Project Overview
The Core III Studio is the third studio in the Masters of Landscape Architecture curriculum seqence at the Graduate School of Design. This studio focuses on the relationships between designed landscapes and labor, waste, and landscape architecture’s depenendency on other landscapes for their creation. These reslationships are explored through the design of regional frameworks and localized sites in coastal Massachusetts. Centering on the Wheelabrator Landfill on the coastal edge of Saugus, the studio explores how productive sectors will migrate due to climate risk; what happens to the land left behind; and how these landscapes can support dignified spaces for work and self-determination.
